I hope you are all having a special Sunday night - mine is filled with hot chocolate, sparkly nail polish and Season 1 of Glee. I need some sweetness in my day to make up for the fact that I gouged out a section of my index finger earlier.
Girls Coming Back - Thumbelina is finally back in Limerick after her Christmas holidays (she's been gone since the middle of December) and Laura is finally home from France (I haven't seen her in a whole year), along with Sonya and Raymy all my Limerick gals are back in my life.I am thinking of having a huge girlie sleepover sometime soon.
Being Secretly Mean - And by 'mean', I mean that we were just being a little critical of silly fashion. But seriously - who could possible think that its ok to go out in a very tight jumper and a pair of lacy tights and think that it's an outfit? One of the guys at our table in the cafe even commented that the girls jumper was so short that if she sits down somewhere unsavory she could actually catch something from a seat. Our whole table agreed.
Team Spirit - At the 2 day competition last weekend, between 12 of us, we brought home 16 medals, the National Barebow Plate and a new National Champion. Everyone is still so fired up from the whole weekend that all they want to do right now is more and more shooting. I don't ever remember a group of archers ever being this enthuastic before - and their enthuasiam is so unbelievably contagious. Yea!
Honourable Mentions - Its 18 months, to the day, until Sonya and Colins wedding, Laura going up a cup size while she's been away and having no problem at all anouncing it to the whole table at lunch, finding pretty printed dresses in the sales, wearing my hair curly, hot chocolate on a stick
Tonight is a night for some Chinese takeaway, a fire in the hearth, good company from some wonderful women and McSteamy. I love our Tuesday ritual. And to make ourselves feel extra good we added a 2 hour slot in the gym to our Tuesdays, to make up for the takeaway.
Do you have any rituals in your week? What makes it into your routine?
I didn't know that I was going to be changing my car this year. In fact, when I went home last weekend I ordered a new part from the garage to fix up the bumper of my own civic to repair the damage from a little crash I was in during the bad weather. Within about 4 hours of getting back from the garage I had a Subaru. So I canceled the parts!
I am so excited - I even squee-ed (courtesy of Sarah Von). I am not, nor have I ever been a petrol head but still! It's a Subaru, and it is a lovely car to drive, and I know who drove it before me and it was never, ever driven hard.
Now all I need is a name for him. Can you please, please help?
Keeping Secrets - I have a secret, and I'm going crazy trying not to tell everyone (I'm not pregnant, just in case you think it's that). I tried to keep it from the guys I live with and the guys I work with, but I've already blabbed it to them so the only people who don't know are all of my archery people. They get to find out on Saturday and then I can tell you all too. Yea!I'm really terrible at keeping secrets so this is a big deal for me.
Finding Homes - I had a beautiful new pair of sequin flats in my wardrobe. I decided that I would wear them to work yesterday only to find out that they are small fitting and therefore a half size wrong for me. Now I could have left them into the bottom of my wardrobe and scowled at them every time I saw them, and tried, and probably failed, to stretch them out to something vaguely comfortable to wear but I decided NO! I'll give them to someone who can enjoy them now. Those shoes deserve a nice home, with someone who loves them. So I knocked on Raymy's door and asked her if she wanted to adopt the flats. She did.
Sweater Dresses - Oh sweater dress how I love thee. You are so comfortable, so warm, so soft. You might not be the most flattering item in my wardrobe as you hug my hips a little too snugly but when I pair you with a pretty, draped cardigan and some boots you are stunning. Please don't ever leave me.
Honorable Mentions - Mind, Body, Fusion classes at the fitness centre for only €2.20 during my lunch hour, Getting back into a teaching routine next week, Heading away with my team for a two day competition this weekend in Galway, Freshly painted purple toe nails, Hazelnut cappuccinos from Javas on campus
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
— Marilyn Monroe
Marylin says it so much better than I can say it myself.
What's your Friday Wish? If you could have anything obtainable - not superpowers, or the winning lottery ticket - what would it be today? Right now!
I wish for a new place to curl up in. Somewhere fresh and clean and new. Somewhere filled with the pretty colours of spring. Where I know I will sip green tea out of a china cup with a matching saucer, and pretty pastel coloured macaroons will sit daintily on an antique side plate. I will be wearing the softest jersey day-dress in the most flattering colour. I will have the most beautiful, but comfortable, shoes kicked off so I can tuck my feet in under me as I sit and listen to Lisa Hannigan records.
Wearing Sunglasses Indoors - In January. I got many, many funny looks today already for wearing them but when a migrane is threatening drastic actions are sometimes needed. I am wearing them with a bright floral top and a sunny yellow cardi to keep the summer theme throughout my whole outfit.
30 Seconds To Mars - Isn't Jared Leto pretty? He's definitely prettier than me, but I'll let him away with that for now just because I love his music so much.
Honorable Mentions - My new pink stapler that makes me smile every time I look down at my desk and see it. Wearing big, dangly earrings that I can feel swishing when I walk. When a training session goes well and you fix all the probelms that you had last week.
Does anyone know where I can find a cut out or cage belt in a large size that will stay closed?
I know some of the ones above have a traditional belt closure but every one in the shops that I find seem to have a popper closure the back and I know that every time I sit down that it will pop wide open.
I am a new convert to day dresses but with a curvy girls boobs and butt I need to pull every thing in the waist and I really love the look of a cage belt - lots of definition but not too bulky looking.
Have you tried a cage belt? How do they fit? Do they only work with dresses?
I came across this Twisted Disney Princess series over at GeekTyrant. I really love the Pocahontas image, way more realistic than the Disney version. He even includes Nala, from the Lion King as one of his princesses.
I'm up at Fredricks house and Aine is giving out that we are all being horribly antisocial with our laptops so we have decided to put up Aine's 'Things She Loves On Thursdays' and by Thursday we mean today.
