Susan Boyle Makeover

source

Have you seen the transformation?

The Britain's Got Talent star has dropped 10 years off her look. A facial, an eyebrow shaping, some hair dye and new clothes and she looks like a whole new woman.

Congratulations to her on all her success so far and I hope to see much more of her in the future. If you've been hiding under a rock lately and haven't seen her performance click HERE to view her extraordinary talent.

Sniffle

click on the posters for source

I'm not feeling very well for the last few days and I think a nasty cold is going to floor me for the weekend.

My plan for the weekend was to go to see Mr T in Galway and spend the weekend on a windswept beach, roam around the city markets for something nice, enjoy tea and cake in a cozy nook in Sonny's, etc...

The new plan is to go back home after work today and curl up in bed for the weekend with lots of cough medicine, juice and water and lots and lots of movies from the 80's and 90's. All of the films above were part of my childhood/teenage years and as far as I can remember they were great!

What films do you remember from your teenage years - Edward Scissorhands - Heathers - The Princess Bride - Clueless - The Wedding Singer - Mallrats - Cruel Intentions - Chasing Amy - Mystery Men - Reality Bites - 10 Things I Hate About You - Romeo & Juliet - Go?

Now I'm not looking for great movies, works of cinematic genius, just the fun, easy to watch movies of your teens.

Lego

I spotted this great Lego advertising post over at the speckyboy design site.

I miss lego, maybe I should call to the toy shop this evening... hmmm

Things I Love Thursday

Last weeks guest TiLTer was Dawn, this weeks is courtesy of Fredrick, and he decided to post an anti-TiLT (please read it in fun).

Saturday Mornings – Lying in bed on a Saturday morning listening to my woman’s heart. Why is it so loud? She knows it wakes me up when it's this loud. I hate the sound of it, it keeps waking me up early on my Saturdays, MY SATURDAYS! Maybe I should kill her, she’s asleep now, don’t have much to do but watch her and wait.... bide my time.....

Friday Evenings – On the way home, when trying to choose what food to make or get me, the woman has the cheek to argue, she keeps coming up with reasons why we can’t eat pizza.

Perfect Fitting Hands Any Day Of The Week – It’s great how perfectly her neck fits into my hands. They don’t quite go all the way around but almost, more than enough to affect the windpipe and all the joy that doing so ensures. The only problem is that I can feel hear heartbeat, but if I squeeze for long enough it goes away... forever MUHAHAHAHAHAHA

This has been a blatant anti-TiLT

I thank you for your bemused readings this day.

Magatha May does not condone any type of violence towards women, this post has been sent in jest of Sonya's post two weeks ago by a dear friend of Sonya and myself. My apologies if it upsets anyone reading it.

The Curiosity Shoppe

How cool are these!

I spotted these switch and socket plates over at Freshome but you can buy them from The Curiosity Shoppe for only $9.

They were designed by the Design Glut team and you can purchase from their own shop for only $8.

I just adore these cushions designed by Stephanie Marin.

I know that they've been around for a while but... imagine having a whole room full of these spilling onto an outdoor patio. Amazing.

Martin Clothes

I spotted this tee over at NOTCOUTURE and I just had to post it up.

The draping, the colour, the wrapping... it's beautiful, especially for a girl with curves (moi).

But the price tag! Martin Clothes you have a lot of nerve! $180 for a tee!

I'm so sorry for going missing for the last few days with no explanation.

I popped home to visit my parents for a few days and then went to Mr. T's home place for a few days over the holidays.

But I am back at my desk again and once I sort out the backlog of mail that threatens to squish me I will be back on track.

It's good to be back blog, I missed you.

Things I Love Thursday

After the success of last weeks guest TiLTer I decided to open the door for more guest postings. Today's TiLT is courtesy of Dawn - a tiny, but feisty, friend.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle - “A feminine and sexy, young and exciting interpretation of the irrepressible spirit of Coco Chanel. COCO MADEMOISELLE is a modern oriental fragrance, fresh and sensual.”

No longer shall I be sneaking sprays of this perfume every time I walk past Boots as a bottle of this delightful, yet unaffordable on a student budget, perfume is coming home with my boyfriend from a business trip.

Easter Holidays - One week off from university to spend sitting around, hanging out with friends and catching up on sleep... no 9am starts for a week!

Cheese - Everyone needs at least three good tasty cheeses in their fridge- Parmesan for cooking, goats cheese for late night snacks and strong mature red cheddar for lunch-time sandwiches.

House M.D. - In the past five weeks, I have managed to watch 5 seasons of this series. Me, an addict? Never...

So what do you get all happy about this time?

Quidam

Wow, what a weekend.

Saturday was spent at full steam. The ISAA League Finals were being held in UL and Quidam was being played in the O2 in Dublin and I was supposed to be at both... at the same time.

Since the tickets for Cirque were bought last Autumn the show won in the end but we did call into the Finals in the morning before we drove to Dublin, just to see how everyone was getting on.

We got a little lost in Dublin but with a little help from the sat nav we were back on track and made it to the O2 with plenty of time to spare. We had amazing seats, see the pic below for a view from my seat, and the show was spectacular.

The whole show was great but I really loved the clown, he was fantastic.

Have you ever seen Cirque? What show did you see? Did you like it?

Blog of the Week

This weeks Blog of the Week goes to Punky b's fashion diary.

Even though the blog is in french and I don't speak a word I really enjoy all of the sexy photos used throughout the site.

Linx & Keetwonen

source

Richard Barnwall is a recent graduate from the National College of Art and Design.

The project above was designed as his Final Year Project.
Linx is a 20' shipping container redesigned to be used as temporary shelter for workers on a construction site.

I love this project, I love that he is making good use from objects that are already manufactured. Wouldn't this be a great idea to modify for student housing, like Amsterdam's massive Keetwonen complex, which houses 1,000 students.

Designed by Tempo Housing in 2006, Keetwonen is said to be a roaring success, with units that are well insulated, surprisingly quiet and comfortable.

Lazy Day

I found this here and really want to go to the shop to buy a bag of M&M's to try it out.

Survival of the fittest M&Ms
(from someone who definitely has too much time on their hands)

Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to
continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels.

Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.

I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.

When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the
strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes."

This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon
for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion.

There can be only one.

Things I Love Thursday

This is my first guest poster - Sonya asked if she could submit the things that she loves as this weeks TILT. Be nice to her and she might come back again.

Saturday Mornings - Lying in bed on a Saturday morning listening to my beloved's heart beating. Its such a treat as we spend most of the week apart. Oh how I love that sound, its worth waking up early on a Saturday morning just to hear it say my name. Its also nice to watch him sleep, then I can really stare at his face, I don't get to see it enough during the week so I catch up while he sleeps.

Friday Evenings -
On the way home, when trying to choose what takeout we'll treat ourselves too. The fun of making up silly reasons why it shouldn't be me who chooses, he'll have just as silly as reason as to why he shouldn't choose. The banter generally hurts my face with the smileys it gives me. I suppose what I really love on Fridays is being able to be silly with someone I love.

Perfect Fitting Hugs Any Day Of The Week -
I love how well we fit when we hug. I fit in just at his shoulder and his chin is just on my head, it makes for good hugging cos I'm not being squished by my beloved, but he can still hold tight. I can hear his heart here too, bonus! I can hold on but still let go in these hugs
.

There seems to be a theme here...........

What keeps you all loved and happy this week?
