Wednesday Wish

A wish for today...
... to have company.

Preferably someone who can tune in my SNES and is willing to sit on the floor all night playing Mario Kart and Super Mario World with me.

Tagged For Information

I was tagged by The Licentiate to complete an "I love your blog" interview, which means that I get to answer ten questions and pass the burden on to some more lucky bloggers.

Read on and find out a little more about me.

Why did you create your blog?
I started a Research Masters in UL and was terrified at the thought of writing so I thought that a blog about trivial stuff would be a nice way to dip my toes into the water, so to speak. It started off very sporadic and slowly grew over the years into something I really enjoy putting together. Nowadays it is my refuge away from work and where I go to clear my head for a few minutes.

What kind of blogs do you follow?
I follow a lot of types of blogs, I have about 200 in my reader. Mostly fashion and style blogs. I am completely envious of the people who are willing to document their life and style online without much fear for criticism. Someday I hope to be able to post outfit posts but not quite yet. I also like to follow crafty blogs and see how creative some people can be.

Favourite make-up brand?
I don't really have one. I am not at all loyal when it comes to make up and will swap from product to product depending on what's working for my face. At the moment I'm still using Max Factor mineral make up, Max Factor cream blush and all my mascara is Max Factor so it seems by default to be my favourite brand for now.

Favorite clothing brand?
Again it changes depending on my mood and budget. I will always default to Dunnes for a quick fix. Pennys if I need cheap pick me up. Dorothy Perkins if I feel like something nice. I don't have favourite brand for clothes, I just trust my gut and my wallet to look after me.

Your indispensible make-up product?
I can't live without my Tweezerman tweezers. I can't live without lip balm. I can't live without mascara. I can live without everything else.

Your favourite colour?
My favourite neutral is grey and my favourite colour will always be red, even though I rarely wear it. I did however treat myself to my first pair of red shoes last week - satin, peep toe stilettos - I feel like an evil temptress in them and can't wait for the first excuse to wear them.

Your perfume?
I have a few perfumes that I like to use. My first was 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden and I will always have a bottle of it in my collection to bring me back to the days of feeling young and grown up all at the same time. I then went to Woman by Hugo Boss and completely fell in love with the fragrance but unfortunately I haven't managed to replace the empty bottle on my dresser yet. My scent at present is Victoria Beckham's Signature For Her and even though it's not my favourite of perfumes I really enjoy wearing it.

Your favourite film?
Oh I could never pick just one! I love watching movies, collecting movies, listening to soundtracks... I have a top 10 that pretty much stay the same but I could never pick a favourite.
What country would you like to visit and why?
I really want to spend some time in Scotland. But to live not to visit. If it's just for a visit then it's got to be Madagascar. Where else would you ever want to go?

Write the last question and answer it yourself.

Hmmm... I rarely ask myself life affirming questions or deeply probing ones either... so...

What inanimate object do you love the most in your life?
It's a toss up between my laptop and my bow. Both give me freedom and escape. My bow lets me work out my frustrations and gives me a sense of belonging to a small and passionate community. My laptop lets me connect to world and helps stem the little pangs of loneliness that sometimes pop up in my life.

Now that you know all that extra info about me I offer the baton to the following bloggers;

Something To Note

Some times you just have to get over yourself.

Dutch Delight

Just a little something in honour of friends who spent the weekend in Amsterdam and missed out on our snowfall.

Guest Post - My Chica

I have a treat for all my readers today. I have secured myself a guest blogger to add words of wisdom and despair to all things relationship like. Please be gentle, this is her first post. Please welcome My Chica to Magatha May.

Well...
so...
We were at a party and I barely noticed him, cause I noticed someone else. So... I was chatting to him at some stage during the night and thought he was pretty funny, but when we left the house I didn’t think much more about it. Magatha pointed out to me that a photo of me from the party was ‘liked’ on FB and I was, of course, very flattered. So I did a little FB stalking to see what this guy was up to. Chatted a little, flirted a little, reckoned that a little text flirting was in order so I gave him my number.
And now I’m glued to my damn phone. WTF! How the hell did this happen? When did I turn into this person? I openly scorn people like this.

So... I like to say ‘so’ a lot, it gives me time to think... We met for coffee, I thought he was nice, I liked him, he’s a pretty funny guy but I wasn’t at all obsessed. But then the text flirting happened and I kind of liked that, a lot. I thought that this might even go somewhere, somewhere nice. So obviously he stopped texting and has fallen off the face of the world. So obviously I now like him even more than when he was around... cause of the whole chase thing that us young people love to do. It makes a guy all intriguing and all that other mysterious stuff. Except that it doesn’t cause now I’m all stalkerish and bothered and it would be much more intriguing if the guy actually text me back again. I’m sick of inventing excuses for why he didn’t text... lost his phone, got snowed in and has no reception, fed his phone to the dog, you get the idea.
I still don’t like being this kind of person but I can’t help it. I hate being the person who likes a guy and doesn’t want to like him but can’t help it.

Can you help me? Any ideas?

Things I Love Thursday

Generous People -
I love entering blog giveaways. I rarely win but I love the anticipation of maybe winning, except for this time. My favourite giveaway this week is courtesy of The Licentiate who is just giving away a ton of great stuff. Click here to enter.

Thermals - I'm not a fan of long sleeves at all so when the weather gets all nice and frosty I turn to sleeveless thermal vests and slips. My favourite vests come from Pennys and Dunnes. Extra long and very stretchy are a must and straps need to be preferably thin.

Freshly Painted and Festive - Toenails covered in metallic green, sparkly red, decadent gold. While your fingers are all neutral and grown up looking you are rocking a holiday secret in your boots.

Honourable Mentions - knuckle duster rings, giant cable knit sweater dresses, turkish delight milkshakes, friends who let me do the crossword my way, hot water bottles and soft blankets, walking the dog in the frost, selection boxes

Sometimes The Truth Hurts

... is totally over rated.

Falling asleep in anyone's arms is a sweaty, awkward, arm numbing experience and should not be encouraged. Falling asleep with our legs entwined, or an arm thrown over my waist, or your body nestled into the small of my back is a much more preferable idea.

Pretty Boy Friday

source

For now I've run out of pretty girls to nominate on Fridays so it looks like it just gonna have to be pretty boys here for a few weeks...

...starting with Jared Leto.

From the early days of My So Called Life, to Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream, and into his 30 Seconds to Mars days I have loved this man and the work that he produces. He commits himself 100% to each and every thing he puts his name to and that makes him incredibly sexy.
